What Are Therapy Services?

Therapy services are scheduled sessions with a licensed clinician — individual, group, or both — that help you understand and manage mental health concerns using evidence-based methods such as CBT and DBT. At our Woburn clinic, therapy runs on a flexible weekly cadence while you live at home, and can step up to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) when more structure is needed.

How Therapy Services Work at Victory Bay

Therapy at our Woburn clinic runs on a weekly cadence built around your schedule. You meet with the same primary therapist for individual sessions and can join clinician-led groups that build connection, accountability, and shared skills. Our clinicians draw on evidence-based approaches — Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and others — and coordinate psychiatric medication management when it is part of your plan.

Two things make therapy work for Massachusetts adults: flexibility and continuity. Daytime and evening sessions let you keep your job, your routines, and your relationships intact, and seeing the same clinician each week builds real momentum. If your needs outgrow weekly sessions, we can step you up to our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — and step you back down as you stabilize, so your care always matches where you are.

Massachusetts Therapy Services — Frequently Asked Questions

What types of therapy do you offer?

Our Woburn clinicians provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused methods. Your therapist tailors the approach to your goals and diagnosis, and coordinates psychiatric medication management when it is part of your plan.

How often will I have sessions?

Most therapy clients meet with their therapist about once a week, with any psychiatric or medication-management appointments scheduled separately. Frequency is set with your clinician at intake and adjusted as you progress — some clients taper to every other week as they stabilize, while others add sessions during a harder stretch.

What is the difference between therapy and an IOP?

Therapy services are weekly individual or group sessions for stable, non-crisis needs, while an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides roughly nine to fifteen hours of structured therapy across several days each week. If weekly therapy is not enough, IOP adds structure; as you stabilize, you can step back down to weekly sessions. Our team can help you decide.

Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?

No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin therapy — many people start while navigating stress, grief, relationships, or a hard season. At intake, your clinician learns about what you are facing and builds a plan around your goals, which may or may not involve a diagnosis.

Which insurance plans does Victory Bay accept?

Victory Bay accepts Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, and Aetna. We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid at this time. Because coverage varies by plan, our admissions team verifies your specific benefits before you start so you understand any out-of-pocket costs in advance. Call us and we will check your coverage quickly.
